HP is recalling hundreds of thousands of digital cameras following reports of overheating and one report of a camera  catching fire.

The problem lies with the use of some non-rechargeable batteries, which can overheat when the camera is connected to a mains adapter or docking station. To avoid the problem owners of the R707 can download a firmware update – this prevents the camera from attempting to charge non-rechargeable batteries. You can find out more about the fault and download the updated firmware here.
