Sony has upgraded its Vaio notebook range for the summer, boosting the spec of three models with increased memory, larger storage and new DVD drives.

The FJ3 Series of notebooks, with widescreen 14.1-inch display, now features X-black LCD screen enhancement for stronger colours and reflection reduction. And there’s the addition of Sony’s Motion Eye video cam and pre-installed Skype 2.0. All models will also feature the Super Multi Double Layer DVD±RW drives,  1GB of 533MHz DDR2 SDRAM and a 100GB hard disk.

The Vaio FE20 Series will now feature second-generation X-black screen enhancement for more vivid colours and a reflection-killing surface layer, plus boosted brightness thanks to dual-lamp illumination. Intel Core Duo processors are now standard, with the VGN-FE21S and VGN-FE21M featuring an NVIDIA GeForce Go 7600 graphics engine backed by 128MB of dedicated memory. Again, there’s the addition of the Motion Eye video cam. along with integrated high-speed 802.11a/b/g wireless networking

For the Vaio SZ2 Series, 1GB of 533MHz DDR2 SDRAM is now standard across the range. The top-end VGN-SZ2VP/C is powered by the T2600 – the fastest Intel Core Duo currently available. Both models also feature one of the thinnest notebook screens ever created – 4.5mm front to back. For security, there’s Trusted Platform Module (TPM) hardware and fingerprint recognition and to protect your data from accident, G-Sensor hard disk technology on all models auto parks the disk’s read/write heads if there’s an impact.

All models are due in time for summer, but as yet we’ve no news on pricing or specific release dates.
