ELP Laser Turntable

Sister-site Shiny Shiny has found this great looking piece of kit that should have audiophiles weak at the knees – the Laser Turntable uses digital technology to ‘read’ your records rather than play them in a traditional sense. Therefore, while we can’t really comment on its sound quality, the fact that no needle will touch the surface of the record will be greatly appealing to music purists wanting to keep their beloved vinyl in perfect knick.

The price tag is pretty hefty at $15,000 so this is going to be one for the extremely dedicated audiophile. Unfortunately it’s only available in Japan and North America but if you’ve already got fifteen grand burning a hole in your pocket I’m sure you’ll find some way of transporting it over here.
