Apple opens flagship New York store tonight

We all know the feeling, it’s three in the morning, you’ve been in the pub for a few and suddenly you just have to buy an iMac. Well maybe not, but starting today, residents of New York will be able to pop down to their new flagship Apple 24 hour store to buy all manner of Apple products or simply surf the web as most of the people in London’s Regent Street store seem to do. It can be found at 767 Fifth Ave. between 58th and 59th Streets opposite the Plaza hotel.

Like its other stores Apple has made sure that the new store’s architectural style conforms to its innovative product design; this time it’s an underground shop which you descend to via a giant glass box.

Its other Manhattan store, in SoHo, looks like it is remaining to operate as usual; recent financial reports suggest that Apple’s physical stores account for nearly 20% of its takings and definitely seem to do its corporate image proud.

If any of our readers who happen to be in New York fancy taking a peak when the press event has finished after 1800 (EDT) tonight, let us know what it’s like.
