Tesco's DVD player for under £18

When I hear the words Tesco Value, I think about cheap and cheerful groceries like bread, baked beans and loo roll. I don’t think consumer gadgets. But there’s actually quite a lot of applicances in the range, the latest of which is the Tesco Value DVD Player, which costs less than £18 – not much more than a new release disc.

As a DVD player, it’s what you’d expect from a basic model – it connects to your TV, plays DVDs and audio discs and it comes with a remote control to perform all the basic functions. And for a second room, connected to a small TV, it would probably do the job.

It’s on sale now at £17.97 in Tesco stores. Do you know of a cheaper one? Let us know.

  • Just bought a 306 and tried 255 – wouldn’t play Region 1 discs. Set it to 6 and it plays 1&2 without any issues.

  • Just Bought a 306 – now unlocked – thanks for the code. @LORNA: open the tray manually then continue with the rest of the code.

  • yeah but the draw isnt automatic, it doesnt open with the remote, it opens wen u press the corner of the cover and it pops up, its not automatic like i said before!!!

  • turn on the dvd player, using the remote open the tray, press setup, press next (skip forward) four times and the region code apears in the top right (default is 2) press right on the direction pad to display 255 then press setup again.

    THAT WORKS!

    it is now region free

  • What is the unlock code for multi-region for the Tesco Value DVD?

Certainly seems good for my second TV – can’t go wrong at that price.

  • The Tesco Value DVD is actually made by Technika and is Model DVD1030. You can Multi-Region it with the remote control and it also supports Karaoke CDG disks straight out of the box.
