Sony reveals BRAVIA S and V Series release dates

We’ve already been given heads up about these forthcoming additions to the BRAVIA range and now Sony
has given us a release date. The S Series will be available in 26″,
32″, 42″ and 46″ sizes; each sports an integrated digital tuner and
offers resolutions up to 1080i. They will be hitting shelves next month
with the exception of the 46″ model which is due in May.

The BRAVIA ENGINE is the technology which differentiates Sony models
from the competition and promises the vivid colours and sharp images
which characterises HD content; it will really be down to personal
preference as to whether you prefer the effect of this processor to the
technologies offered by rival manufacturers though. All but the
smallest model use S-PVA technology to further enhance colour richness
and extend the viewing angle to 178 degrees.

Update: Prices revelaed on the turn.

The integrated stereo speakers could help you decide whether to go
for a Sony HDTV as well – each of the S series offers SRS TruSurround
XT to simulate a surround sound setup without the need for a tangle of
speaker cables.

The V series is step further up the HDTV ladder and offers all the same
features as the S Series but with the addition of Sony Live Colour
Creation Technology. This is designed to specifically handle the
reproduction of greens and reds on these LCD screens, making them more
vivid but without detracting from other more subtle tones such as skin
colours.

The 32″, 42″ and 46″ V Series will be debuting in the UK in May.
Unfortunately no word on expected prices just yet but we’ll let you
know as soon as we hear.

Update: We now have some estimated prices for these models,
although they may change depending on the dealer. The four S Series TVs
should sell for around £1000, £1300, £2000 and £3000 respective to size
and the three V Series for £1700, £2300 and £3500, again according to
size.
