Turn your iPod into a home media system

Griffin Technology is introducing and iPod dock that converts any compatible Apple player into a home media centre system.

TuneCenter connects your iPod to a hi-fi and to a TV, beaming an iPod control interface onto the bigger screen. The dock also incorporates an internet radio receiver, allowing you to stream and play net radio without a PC or Mac. All you need is a home network, as the dock has Wi-Fi and an Ethernet socket for both wireless and wired set-ups. Other docks are available with matching remote controls, but TuneCenter finally allows users to see what they’re selecting on a bigger screen than the iPod’s own display.

The dock is compatible with any iPod with a dock connector, though only fifth-generation models offer video playback on the TV and only later iPod models support photo slideshows.

The TuneCenter will retail in the US for around $100. UK price is likely to be £100.
