Sony Live 2006: New GPS systems

It might have been a little late to the UK market but nevertheless it is clear that Sony will be taking GPS satellite navigation systems very seriously in 2006. In Lisbon it unveiled a pair of new models which are the first the company has actually manufactured. Last year’s Nav-U was a rebadge of a rival product.

Due imminently the Nav U50 and Nav U50T are small Tom Tom style devices that feature a 3.5inch touch screen. Other features include 512MB of memory, which houses maps of the UK and Ireland, a 2-way speaker system and four hours of battery life. The top-end U50-T also features TMC dynamic traffic updates which are delivered to the device via FM. The U-50 should retail for £320 with the U-20T costing around £40 more.
