Google Video fails to impress

Google Video has launched with new content partner CBS, but according to a report on the The Register, it fails to impress in either looks or usability.

Take a look for yourself to see the interface, which is very much in the traditional Google mould, a million miles from the more stylish iTunes store. There are some very saleable shows hidden in there – Star Trek and CSI to name just two – but a clumsy interface and an inconsistency in the episodes available really let it down.

It’s not all bad. Google offers fairly lengthy preview clips at the start of each video and they have stayed true to the open community spirit by allowing anyone to add their movies to the service.

Hopefully, some fine-tuning will iron out the early problems.
