We’ve covered Seagate’s array of drives before – from the pocket drive to the larger capacity models. Now a combination of the two has been officially announced at the CES – a portable hard drive with a storage capacity of 160GB, based on Seagate’s "perpendicular recording", which provides 30% more capacity than comparable-sized drives.

The drive is designed to be portable, weighing less than a pound and featuring a robust internal shock-mounted design and aluminum alloy enclosure to protect it from drops and falls. It is powered through the computers’ USB port – so no power cord and data can be transferred at a very decent 480Mbps

This Mac and PC compatible drive should be avialable from February 2006 at around $379 (around £210). Find out more at www.seagate.com.
