Weather-predicting clothes peg

Those ever so brainy boffins at Brunel University have been at it again, this time coming to the aid of the beleaguered British clothes washer. Student Oliver MacCarthy has designed an intelligent clothes peg which uses simple forecasting equipment to predict the weather. If rain is on its way then the peg locks shut preventing the user from hanging up the clothes.

Each peg has two symbols on the holder – clear and rain – and they are positioned so that they can be seen by the user. Like all the Brunel University stuff it is only a prototype at the moment, but given the vagaries of the British weather they are sure to be hit if they ever make it to production.
