Interesting new stuff from Thomson, who at IFA is parading something called a Digital Media Bridge. It sounds like it does all the usual things in transporting music, films and photos from a computer to a TV set. However the story here is that Thomson is claiming that it is HD compatible supporting 1080 lines (interlaced) for high-definition viewing of stills and 720 lines (non-interlaced) for films.
Its is compatible with a host of formats too including MP3, WMA, AAC and WAV format sound files, as well as MPEG 2, MPEG 4, WMA9 and DivX videos. It has been out in the US for a while, but you get the impression that Thomson has delayed a Euro launch until there’s whiff of HDTV in the air. It should go for around £250.
