Virtual keyboard for smartphones goes wireless

We kind of liked the Virtual Keyboard (VKB) that i.Tech Dynamic launched last year. In case you’ve forgotten it featured a mini device that attached to a phone and then projected a full-size laser QWERTY keyboard on to any flat surface, saving you having to lumber round bulky additional keyboards.

Well the device is back and this time i.Tech Dynamic has done away with the connecting lead between the device and the phone replacing it with a wireless Bluetooth link.

The Bluetooth version apparently features a number of improvements over the cabled product, including enhanced keyboard layout and typing sensitivity offering accurate and reliable detection of up to 400 characters per minute.

The device is now compatible with a larger range of devices too with the current list numbering around 50 smartphones and PDAs.

The VKB has a lithium-ion battery that provides approximately 120 minutes continuous typing and has an LED displaying battery charge level with an automatic ‘off’ function on the base of the unit.  It can also be powered by the mains with the included power lead.

It is available via the Avenir website: www.virtualkeyboard.info for £129.99.
