Nokia 6280 preview

Nokia recently provided us with a couple of upcoming slider phones to play around with. Sadly they weren’t working samples, but we can venture an opinion or two about their design. We really do like the look of the 6280/6270. The phones are pretty similar – the key difference being that the 6280 is a 3G handset, while the 6270 is GPRS and has a polished metal finish as opposed to the black of 6260.

The 6280 is a pretty good size for a 3G phone, though it is still a little bit chunky, and feels simple to use with just five controls on its main facia. There are also large easy to press buttons underneath the slide – you’ll be able to text/email quickly on this phone. It works horizontally as a camera too taking two mega pixel images. Obviously we can’t say for certain how good the phone is in practice, but if it works in a similar way to Nokia’s current 3G handset the 6630, it should definitely appeal to those for whom the rather chunky hard disk endowed N91 is a bit too hefty.

  • i would like to know if the phone is actually worth buying, as i am getting it on line-rental soon, and have never heard of this phone before, how good is is??

  • i bought it mainly for the 2mp camera and 3G. It is slightly bulky, however that doesn’t mean you can’t fit it in ur pocket. My previous phone was a 3200 and im loving the new technology. $499 wasn’t a bad price for this phone. I hate going on plans cause they are usually more expensive than what i spend on prepaid.

  • yea 6280 can play mp3 file.. i bot it yesterday.. have a player for songs.. not bad loud speaker also.. as compare to my previous phone nokia 6670

  • yes you can use mp3 files as ringtones…i got this phone…its awesomealthough it feels a bit fragile….but maybe thats just me…
