microsoft is getting into filesharing with the announcement that its Cambridge lab has come up with a P2P program dubbed ‘Avalanche’. The lab claims that download times are between 20-30 percent faster using their network coding approach, than on systems that only code at the server, and a whopping 200 to 300 percent faster than distributing un-encoded information.

Of course, microsoft unsurprsingly stated that this was only for legitimate file sharing.
