microsoft, not wanting to be left behind in the latest spate of search engine wars, has announced a new local search service, which is out in beta this week. The service, dubbed ‘MSN local search’, will add Yellow Page listings and interactive maps to MSN’s “near me” feature, which lets users find you what stuff is in your area.  If you think that this already sounds a bit too much look Google or Yahoo’s functions, then a) you’d be right and b) microsoft is planning on adding a ‘Virtual Earth’ program which includes 45 degree angled shots of the environs.
