Creative claims to have made two new audio innovations, which the company blurb says are “the most significant audio breakthroughs since the Sound Blaster sound cards”. Apparently, the two breakthroughs are the Creative X-Fi Xtreme Fidelity Audio Processor and the new sound standard that goes with it, Xtreme Fidelity. Xtreme Fidelity is purported to be a new sound standard of 24-bit quality, with a minimum of 110db SNR, new CMSS (Creative Multi Speaker surround) 3d headphone and surround speaker technology. As for the audio processor itself, Soundblaster say it will play your MP3s at the new Xtreme Fidelity standard.

The processor features an SRC engine and will  support ASIO recording with a latency of less than one millisecond. All audio calculations are performed on the card, thus reducing processing time. New standard, or cynical marketing ploy? Guess we’ll find out when we see it at E3.
