Sony Handycam DCR-PC55

Either Japanese passports are A4 size, or this Sony Handycam is very small indeed. We’re guessing the latter – apparently the DCR-PC55E measures just 45 x 99 x 72mm and weighs 360g. As the world’s smallest and lightest miniDV cam it hould be called the Thumbycam not Handycam. And yet it still has space for a 3-inch LCD panel. The Carl Ziess Vario-Tessar lens provides a 10X optical zoom and the swivelling monitor provides touchscreen control. The digital camera has been given a February release date, although we haven’t heard when it’s likely to be on sale in the UK. The company also has the DCR-PC53E coming out at the same time, but it’s not clear what the differences between the two camcorders are.
