DVD+RW just got faster

You’ll all be thrilled to hear that the DVD+RW Alliance has announced the release of final draft specifications for 8x rewriting on DVD+RW media. The Alliance is a voluntary association of manufacturers that all support the DVD+ format, including HP, MKM, Philips, Ricoh, Sony and Yamaha. Apparently, this means that a 4.7GB DVD+RW can be written in less than 8 minutes. DVD+RW drives that can support this speed are expected to be available in the next few months.
