Cable TV companies have Sky+ in their sights

While Sky has a huge lead in the personal video recorder market it is likely to face some stiff opposition next year from cable companies reports The Guardian.

Apparently both Telewest and NTL are going to offer a video recording system as part of their TV packages. Instead of the programmes being saved on a user’s hard disk, they will be archived on the companies’ servers.

It is possible that the service will be cheap, easy to use and offer huge amounts of storage – significantly more than a hard disk based system could offer.
