We wondered how long it would take Orange to get to the point where its next generation of SPV phones would be small enough to be truly pocket-friendly.

Well it appears the network has cracked it for it is set to launch what it is billing as the smallest smartphone so far in the summer

The candy bar style SPV C500 weighs 100 grams and boasts frame measurements of 108mm x 46mm x 18mm. Like previous SPVs it runs using microsoft’s Windows Mobile 2003 2nd edition software delivering applications such as Pocket Outlook (Email, Calendar, Contacts), Pocket Internet Explorer and Windows Media Player.

Other features include a 65k colour screen, integrated VGA camera, Bluetooth and an external SD card slot. The phone also includes an integrated handsfree speaker and comes with polyphonic ringtones and access to a host of Orange applications and services.
