Convergence between the hi-fi arena and ‘PC audio’ continues apace with the launch of a £1,000 AV receiver from hi-fi/home cinema stalwart Onkyo. The TX-NR801E features the company’s Net-Tune system which enables users to stream music from their PC in both uncompressed (WAV) and compressed (MP3, WMA) forms. The 7 channel AV amp can also be connected to a broadband router for listening to internet radio stations. And for home cinema buffs all the usual surround sound formats are onboard including Dolby Digital, DTS, THX Surround EX and Dolby Pro-Logic II.
