Eight million reasons to go digital

The gap between digital photography and good ole fashioned film grows ever smaller. Sony has just announced a new digital camera with an effective 8 megapixel resolution (3,264 x 2,448 pixels) – enough for A3-sized prints (sort of). Designed for the serious photographer (in other words expect it to be very, very expensive), the new Cybershot DSC-F828 features a Carl Zeiss T lens, a jet black body and a grip handle.

It will be available in November. Meanwhile the Japanese giant has announced its proprietary Memory Stick system has become smaller in size and faster at transferring data. The new Memory Stick Duo has 128MB storage capacity and incorporates a parallel interface for high-speed data transfer of up to 160Mbps.
