With the official release of Firefox 3 tomorrow, everyone’s attentions have been turned onto what you’re looking at right now – browsers. Lifehacker has reviewed the four major browsers – Firefox 3 release candidate 3, Internet Explorer 7, Opera 9.5,and Safari for Windows 3.1.1, and discovered that Firefox, Safari and Opera all fared better than, um, Internet Explorer. We could’ve told them that.

Still, it makes for a very interesting read, particularly with the use of graphs to highlight just how large the gaps are between IE7 and everyone else. Poor, poor Microsoft.

  • Agreed. Both Firefox and Opera support web standards well and are way ahead of what Microsoft has to offer. My preference is Opera, as it has a much richer feature set out of the box, while being very simple to use. Try it out and compare!

  • Well, I just read about a ‘new feature’ in the developing Firefox 3.1 that’s been in Opera for the past four versions so from my point of view I’m not expecting a revolution with FF3; but IE7 users who don’t know any better when it comes to how you can interface with the web will probably suffer a stroke.

Regardless of whether you choose to use Opera 9.x or Firefox 3.x, I think we can all agree that in the end the internet wins.
