HubDub launches in the UK – make money betting on the news
Fancy a bet on news events, but aren’t keen on losing cold hard cash in these tough economic times? HubDub’s what you need. The fake-money news-betting site has been going strong in the US since February this year, but given that they’re based in Edinburgh, it was only a matter of time before they expanded to the UK.
The site’s live right now, and you can bet virtual Hubdub dollars on the outcome of such important factors as who’s going to get Christmas #1, whether Laura White from X-Factor will make a comeback, or who the next Dr Who will be. Ecobee – a Wi-Fi thermostat
We’ve all been there. Sat, just after midnight at your PC, shivering because the heating’s not on. You wrap a blanket around you, but you know that at some point you’ll need to turn the heating on, because you’re nowhere near done with your work for the evening.
What you need is something that will save you getting up, because getting up is cold. You need the Ecobee – a Wi-Fi thermostat. It syncs with a web server, so you can control your heating from afar – turn it on before you leave work, for example. It could even adjust the heating depending on what the weather conditions are like outside – if it knows there’s a cold snap coming, for example…
O2 puts unprotected MMS pictures on web, Google still caching phone numbers
Over the weekend, it emerged that pages from O2’s MMS-to-web service had been crawled and indexed by Google, raising concerns over the privacy of its customers’ data.
The system sounds innocent enough: if someone is sent an MMS message but their phone (such as an iPhone 3G) is incapable of receiving / displaying them, they are instead directed to a web page where the picture is displayed. This also includes the sender’s mobile phone number and keywords.

A new survey by The Carphone Warehouse has found that children as old as 18 are avoiding pornographic websites and even less are having sexually explicit conversations. The study, conducted in part Dr Tanya Byron, the very embodiment of Psychology 2.0, also found that children even lie about what they are doing and that parents have ALMOST NO IDEA AT ALL.
