SHINY VIDEO PREVIEW: Canon PowerShot range

Yesterday, Dan got to check out Canon’s PowerShot range of cameras in person in Soho. You can see his thoughts in the video above – the conclusion of which is basically “they’re alright”. His favourite was the SX200 thanks to the decent zoom, wide angle lens and fully manual operation.

At the same event, Susi got her hands on Canon’s IXUS range. I’ll have that video up momentarily.

Canon launches PowerShot A480 compact digital cameras

Canon has announced its latest compact digital camera, the 10 megapixel PowerShot A480 featuring a 3.3x optical zoom (that point three is all important, evidently), face and motion detection, 15 shooting modes, 30fps VGA movie shooting, red eye reduction, and a 2.5-inch LCD screen.

It features Canon’s DIGIC III processing system that promises low noise levels and better colour reproduction, while face detection can adjust focus, exposure, flash settings and white balance to take the best pictures of up to nine human subjects, aided by motion detection to reduce the blur caused by shaky hands or moving subjects…

Canon releases five more digital cameras: two IXUS, three PowerShot

Canon keeps its foot on the gas with today’s launch of five new compact digital cameras, adding two to its IXUS range and three to its PowerShot range.

First up, the IXUS 980 IS features a whopping 14.7 megapixels coupled with 3.7x optical zoom. Full manual control is also offered.

The IXUS 870 IS offers a more modest 10 megapixels, with a 4x optical zoom, 28mm wide-angle lens.

The 980 comes with a 2.5″ PureColor LCD, while the 870 has a three inch LCD.

Both feature image stabilisation, Canon’s new DIGIC 4 processor that offers a range of features including face detection and image blur correction, and 30fps VGA movie mode…

Canon intros new PowerShot range of pocket-sized digital cameras: SX110, A2000, A1000, E1

Canon has announced four new compact digital cameras in its PowerShot range, boasting high megapixel count, decent optical zoom, image stabilisation, and a range of other handy consumer-friendly technology.

PowerShot SX110 IS

The PowerShot SX110 IS (replacing last year’s SX100 IS) features a nine megapixel sensor (up from eight), 10x optical zoom with optical image stabiliser, and both easy and manual modes to cater for all levels of expertise.

The SX110 has a three-inch LCD screen with wide viewing angle, and can shoot 30fps VGA movies…
