Who’s with me when I say that Planet Earth is one of the best BBC documentaries ever made? I enjoyed watching it so much on TV I actually – shock! – paid money for the DVD when it was released. It was that good.

BBC still committed to dual HD DVD and Blu-ray releases
The BBC has no plans to abandon HD DVD for its high-definition releases, despite the recent defection to Blu-ray of its distribution partner Warner Home Video. The Beeb says it’ll continue its policy of supporting both formats, following its policy with series like Planet Earth and Galapagos.
Prince and Radiohead both ineligible for Brit Awards nominations due to unorthodox album releases
It appears you really can’t have your cake and eat it too, as Radiohead and Prince are both to be excluded from next year’s Brit Awards in London, due to their album releases online and free with The Daily Mail, respectively.
The criteria for being nominated in the prestigious awards means artists must have had a single or album in the UK top 75 in the past 16 months. Radiohead, releasing In Rainbows online, has not announced the official sales figures…

So, Prince released his new album ‘Planet Earth’ in the UK by bundling it for free with last weekend’s Mail On Sunday newspaper. More than three million copies were apparently printed, with some music fans buying several copies with the aim of making their fortune on eBay (although they were soon disappointed).

Shops get angry over paper's Prince album giveaway
The Entertainment Retailers Association is currently deleting all its Prince MP3s in a big sulk. Even Sign O’ the Times. The sulk is over the Mail on Sunday giving away an estimated three million copies of Prince’s new album ‘Planet Earth’ over the weekend.
The ERA is angry that the move was clearly designed to boost newspaper sales…
