Apple may be planning ad-funded iTunes, according to UK Copyright Tribunal
If you’re not a music industry executive, you probably haven’t spent much time perusing the documents from the recent UK Copyright Tribunal’s decision on online royalty rates for music publishers. But some people have, and they’ve turned up evidence that Apple is planning to introduce ad-funded music on iTunes.

Apparently there’s four unused or ‘hidden’ applications on the iPhone: a translator, a converter, a phone book and a radio. At least, that’s what hackers are surmising after poking around the device’s software.

Manga coming to the iPhone
Japanese company Voice Bank has detailed a deal with the Digital Manga Association Japan to format their comic books specially for the iPhone.
Will Nokia launch an iTunes-rivalling online music service?
Nokia could well be gearing up to launch its own mobile music download service, if recent reports in Fortune Magazine are proved correct.
Sources close to Nokia’s CEO, Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo, claim that the new worldwide service could launch on 29th August at a London event featuring live music at the Ministry of Sound nightclub.
They also claim that the system would work much like iTunes, offering downloads of music tracks to a PC for transferring to mobile devices – either Nokia’s own, or others via DRM software.

Apple announced its latest set of financial results yesterday, and revealed that in its first two days on sale in the US, 270,000 iPhones were sold. It’s not the 500,000+ that analysts were claiming, but it’s still a decent number.

Destroy your Mac laptop and use it to control Pong's paddles
You’d be forgiven for thinking Tech Digest had turned into a blog focussing purely on ways to hack the game Pong and play it through various mediums other than your arcade or Atari systems. No, we’re not renaming ourselves Pong Digest, much to the distress of these guys, sorry.
One such Pong-enthusiast has created a version of the game to run on his Mac laptop using the sudden motion sensors and microphone. People who smother their Macs in protective laptop cases or daren’t take it out into the wild should avoid this game, as it actually involves ohmygod tilting your laptop vigorously and potentially harming your laptop’s microphone by screaming into it. Tilting the laptop controls the direction of the paddle as you’d expect, and raising your voice, by say, screaming into the microphone, actually increases the size of the paddle.
