Gosh, this is very exciting. If you're one of the few people in Britain who don't have a DS yet, or your kid is, and they're bugging you about it, then you might fancy entering this competition. We've got a Nintendo DS Lite and a copy of Star Wars: The Clone Wars - Jedi Alliance to give away.

The game has a storyline exclusive to the DS, lets you use your stylus as a lightsaber, and you can put together ridiculous pairings of characters, like Mace Windu and R2-D2. Sounds fun, right? So how do you enter? Easy. Simply visit this page (Competition is now closed), fill in your details, and then hope. May the Force be with you.

John-Burton.jpgWell, well, well, ladies and Gs. This is the final day of the Vodafone Live Guy treasure hunt and today the chase comes to old London town.

Already it's a case of one down three precious last Dell netbooks to give away but you'll have to wait until after 12pm for the counter to be reset as the gentleman pictured here, Mr John Burton, tagged Vodafone's man in red a few minutes ago in Regents Park.

My final advice for you is get down to London Zoo for feeding time, tempt a penguin into your clutches with a fistful of fish and then clobber Live Guy with a two foot Antarctic bird.

Don't forget to shout "You're Live Guy and I'm a Vodafone winner" down at him while he's trying to get the feathers out of his mouth. Well, either that method or follow his GPS and the clues on his blog and on Twitter. Your choice really. Good luck.

Live Guy sounds like he's heading for the Reading Abbey which I'm sure is a girls' school. Don't know if that's the kind of clues he wants to be writing on his blog but never mind.

Whatever happens, our reporter, StylistBrighton, will be following close behind. Here's how she got in in Bristol...

Today is the penultimate day of the Live Guy treasure hunt and probably the best chance to bag yourself a free Dell netbook. Why? Well, I'll tell you - because today the chase is in Reading and Reading's not that big; well not big like London tomorrow.

Criminal. One winner, one very unfortunate loser. He may have a fantastic winter beard but under that mask lies the face of utter disappointment. So there's a lesson to all you Bristolians, don't forget the magic words. Read the rules, follow the clues, read the rules again.

Take a look at Shiny Shiny later today to see how the folk in Birmingham got on.

Recognise this place? Apparently it's in Bristol, somewhere round the Old Vic by the looks of things. Of course, in the time I've taken to write this, Live Guy's now moved on to some big ferris wheel somewhere, so if you want to catch the man dishing out the free Dell netbooks then you'd best get over to his blog, follow him on Twitter and study his GPS trail.

Live-Guy.jpgDay 8 and already Live Guy's been nabbed somewhere in the region of Cardiff Arms Park after some rugby commentary clues on his blog. Not sure where he's heading next but if you're in that neck of the woods and you're in the mood to bad yourself and free Dell netbook, then it looks like its something to do with his "brain going clunk" whatever that's supposed to mean.

Of course, that could have just been someone taking a polo mallet to the bonse of the man in red before whispering the words in his ear "You're Live Guy and I'm a Vodafone winner." Not sure they'll get much out of him after that except a substance resembling guacamole dripping out of his ears, but there you go.

My advice is use the GPS on his blog and get following him on Twitter. There's still three Dell mini's to win. Plenty to play for.

If you're looking at this image going, "Hey, that's where I live," then you're in luck because you've a darn good chance of winning yourself a Dell netbook today. In fact, you've got four darn good chances.

10.32am and, as yet, no one in Birmingham has managed to take a plank of wood to the head of Vodafone's mobile gift horse and yam the magic words in his ear "You're Live Guy and I'm a Vodafone winner." So, there's all to play for.

Live-Guy.jpg
He's been to the Hacienda, he's not going to Old Trafford, unless he's heading to the City of Manchester Stadium, I'm not going to be much help to those trying to hunt Live Guy down today.

Of course, if he's got any real guts he'll head on over to Moss Side, in which case I'm sure it's perfectly acceptable to pistol whip him into submission and take a Dell netbook off him whether he's ready to give it up or not. Happy hunting.

See that slow confident smile of the gentleman on the right in this photo? That's the inner glow of a Dell netbook winner combined with the satisfaction of bundling Live Guy to the ground.

Given that today's hunt is in Leeds and the this morning's capture was near Headingly, it could well have been a cricket bat that Mr Paul Walker used to pummel Vodafone's running rabbit into submission. Perhaps a good weapon of choice for the day after his training in the gruelling climes of the far north in the last few days. The cold weather has made him strong.

"Cold" is the word that springs to mind when I look at StylistBrighton's latest Live Guy Video Diary of day three of the treasure hunt for free netbooks in Newcastle. It looks bloody cold up there. So cold that not even the winner of a new piece of cutting edge tech could break a smile. I will say one thing for him though. "Twiiter" sounds so much better in a Geordie accent.

According to his blog, there's still two netbooks to be won today. So, if you feel suitably inspired, then check out the GPS trail. That seems to be the way to do it.

Know where this is? Yep, me too. The only problem is that by the time I catch the 11:37 from Euston, Live Guy's going to be elsewhere and I still won't own a Dell netbook. However, if you happen to be up in the 'pool, last I heard Vodafone's running rabbit is heading for the old cathedral but take a look at his blog for a better idea.

It's coming up to midday and so far it looks like nobody's won the morning netbook. My advice is to slide in at 11:59, immobilise him and deliver the phrase that pays. Then, once you've got your nice new computer, turn around at 12.01 and do it all over again to win the afternoon one as well. See, that's psychology, that is.

live-guy-newc.jpgWay ay man! Day 3, Newcastle, and Live Guy's already been caught! The fool obviously didn't eat his Ready Brek this morning or drink his Brown Ale or whatever was on the menu.

This lucky gent, whose name according to Live Guy's Blog is Dan Robins, has bagged himself a nice, new free Dell netbook but there are a further three to win from midday today.

The latest clue is a picture of come kind of Nelson's column looking thing, so I suggest you get on the trail now, stay within 100 yards and the minute the clock strikes 12, pin Live Guy up against a wall and scream the phrase that pays into his face with your morning breath. He'll love it, and if you want to see how the hunt is done, go over to Shiny Shiny later today. There'll be a video post from StylistBrighton. Until then, happy hunting.

Having got all excited about the prospect of winning netbooks, we sent our roving reporter, StylistBrighton, out on the Vodafone treasure hunt to see just how hard it is to track down Live Guy. Apparently, it's not that hard...

So, if you want to bag yourself a nice little pre-Christmas prize, then follow the clues for today's hunt in Glasgow and look out for a blonde lady with a camcorder. She seems to be quite good at this.

Live-Guy.jpgRight, I'm afraid I'm sod all use to you today. I've been to Glasgow once in my life, so I can't help you in your quest to win a Dell netbook today. If, however, you're a Weegie or are up there at the moment on a shopping trip, then the images after the jump might mean something to you.

If it does, or if you can work out what the Vodafone Live Guy is talking about on his blog today, then tear your heels off, get your sneakers on and chase that man in red but don't forget the phrase that pays once you've got him in a half nelson or he'll just think you're a Rangers fan: "You're Live Guy and I'm a Vodafone winner."

You can always add, "and give me your wallet," and see if that washes.

Live-Guy.jpgLive Guy is on the run, and he'd better run quick because he's dropping more clues than than a Scooby Doo villain.

Today is Day 1 and he's on the loose in Edinburgh. I'm not entirely sure what his game is but, looking at his blog, he's visiting a lot of dead people. He says he's been down Princes Street and towards the train station. If the dead people thing is a clue, then he could be headed towards the Greyfriar's Kirkhouse or he could just be on his way up to the Mile. I don't know, that's about as much knowledge as I've got on the Scottish capital. Thankfully, you can track him by GPS as well.

If you happen to be up there as well, then look out for him - yes, he will be wearing that t-shirt - and win yourself a Dell netbook. Trip him up, pin him to the ground and scream in his ear that he's Live Guy and you're a Vodafone winner. I reckon that one's going to be wearing really thin for him in about three days time.

As we mentioned the other day, we're joining in the hunt for the Vodafone Live Guy here at Shiny but before sending out one of our own to track the man down, we thought we'd better get a glance at him so we know what we're looking for. Presumably, he's the one on the left.

If you want some more info on the manhunt, then get over to the Live Guy site and find out when he's coming to a town near you for a chance to tackle him to the ground and win yourself a Dell netbook.

Remember The Interceptor? Treasure Hunt? Challenge Anneka?* Well, next week we'll be joining in with a live Treasure Hunt that's going to be more thrilling than all three combined. (Who even knew that was possible, right? I know.)

Hunt organiser, Vodafone, has got us on board to help out with giving clues and searching for the "Live Guy", who will be rushing round to most of the major cities of Great Britain, giving away Dell Inspiron mini 9 netbooks to anyone who can catch him.

We'll be bringing you more exciting details on Friday, but in the meantime, you can check out the Live Guy website.

*Yes you do - you're just pretending to make me feel old.

I've never run a caption competition before and I've never thought there was much point in the tech world - until I saw this.

I don't know what's really going on in this snapshot of the Philips Simplicity concept design event in Moscow and I don't want to, because I'll bet the reality is a lot less exciting than the possibilities of a smug looking man trying to impress a woman with a severed head and a gas mask.

So instead, put your words of genius into their mouths in the comments section below. I'll chose the best entry and then send out some sort of suitably exciting prize. Ladies, gentlemen, let's work those funny bones.

nokia_n96_compo.jpgNokia has launched a brand new competition page that will see 96 lucky winners get their mitts on a N96 phone MULTIMEDIA COMPUTER that strongly resembles a mobile phone ahead of the crowd.

It's not just any N96 either, it comes in a special decorated ash tree box with unique numbering on the inside cover. Unique numbering?! Incredible! And extremely handy for when you want to peddle it on eBay. By the looks of it, the handset is just an ordinary model after all.

All you have to do to win one of these MULTIMEDIA COMPUTERS, is go to this website. Nokia gets extra kudos brownies for having come up with an extremely cool website concept too. If you have a webcam, it'll take a short video of you while you gawp at the screen (mine got a really nice close up of my thumb as I rescued it from beneath a pile of a paperwork) and show it to you on the phone handset. No idea why, but I don't care!
