Like to throw yourself down a mountain on two wheels? Then you’ll definitely need protection.

New from LIVALL is the MT1 smart mountain bike helmet which, its manufacturer claims, revolutionises downhill or uphill adventure.

The MT1 helmet is also stuffed full of technology including Bluetooth speakers and high-performance transcendent LEDs. When paired with the LIVALL Riding App a user can track RPMs, speed, distance travelled, burned calories and much more.

Using the wonderfully named ‘Bling Jet’ Bluetooth remote control attached to the handlebars, riders can – if it’s safe to do so – take a photo, change the music, indicate a change of direction, operate a walkie talkie or answer a phone call with the tap of a button.

High-speed mountain biking can be risky, so visibility to people ahead and behind is paramount. Transcendent LEDs give LIVALL cyclists the edge because the high-quality lights shine brightly to warn others of direction changes or sudden braking.

The indicators and stop lights turn off automatically after 10 seconds, so there’s no need to reach for the phone or Bling Jet Remote Control.

LIVALL’s patented Nano Cadence Sensor attaches to the bike’s pedals and connects via Bluetooth to the LIVALL App to show slope rate, altitude, and heart rate when extendable devices such as a heart rate monitor are connected to the smartphone.

The 360-degree fully rotatable, charging phone holder attaches to handlebars and supports any smartphone from four to six inches wide. The holder is equipped with a USB charging point and a 5000mhA (3.7V) battery for long lasting power on the go.

Weighing 319 grams, the MT1’s outer helmet casing is made using a high strength PC material one millimetre thick to increase strength and durability. The interior is crafted from a unique EPS foam that moulds to a riders head while providing ultimate comfort.

You can connect LIVALL accessories to an iOS or Android smartphone with the LIVALL Riding App. To use its functions, the operating systems must be Android 4.3 and above or iOS 8.0 and above.

Available to buy now on LIVALL’s Amazon UK store and Amazon US in the US, the MT1 has an RRP of £133 / $129.99.
