Battlefield: Hardline to only run 720p on Xbox One and 900p on PS4

Surprising news this morning about the hotly anticipated cops-n-robbers-em-up Battlefield: Hardline. It’ll be running at a much lower resolution than expected on both major consoles.

Let’s start with the good news: It’ll be running at 60 frames per second on both – so will probably look nice and fluid. The bad though, is that on PS4 it will only run at a resolution of 900p – that’s 1600×900, and quite a way off of the 1080p (1920×1080) gold standard.

On Xbox One things are going to be even worse – running at old-fashioned 720p instead.

Whilst this will no doubt be disappointing to hardcore gamers who demand only the best, perhaps the “glass half full” way of looking at the news is that it will still run 60fps – and ultimately, a faster framerate is going to be better for super competitive players than a slightly bigger resolution.
