Amazon has today announced that its answer to Google’s Chromecast – the Fire TV Stick – is now available to order in the UK for only £35.
The stick offers many of the features of Amazon’s Fire TV box including a suite of streaming services including Amazon’s own Instant Video, as well as Netflix and iPlayer. It also supports Amazon’s “X-Ray” functionality, to get more detail on whatever you’re watching, and its “ASAP” streaming, which will predict what you want to watch next and pre-buffer it.
The stick also supports “DIAL”, the same protocol used by Chromecast that lets you “fling” content from a mobile device to the big screen, and the stick is even capable of playing games too.
The Fire TV Stick will be shipping from the 15th April, and Amazon Prime customers will be able to pick it up for just £19. The additional (and optional) voice remote will be an extra £24.99.
