Will the Samsung Galaxy S6 ship with Microsoft apps pre-installed?

Intriguing rumours about the software line-up on the Galaxy S6 could point towards an Android future for Microsoft.

According to SamMobile, Samsung has been working hard at optimising the Android software for the forthcoming phone – with the phone shipping with very little Samsung bloatware on top of Google’s stock Android. But whilst the phone may lack the likes of S-Voice and and S-Health (both will be available from the Galaxy app store), it will apparently come bearing a number of Microsoft apps, including OneNote, OneDrive and Office Mobile.

Such a move would be a bit of a surprise, but a good idea for both companies: Windows Phone has been a disaster for Microsoft and after years of support it still has only a tiny market share – so putting more energy into its Android apps makes perfect sense. For Samsung, finding a partner which can provide a number of important services without having to be Google’s subordinate is always going to be appealing.

Microsoft has been laying the groundwork for such a move for some time too – releasing a bunch of Android apps and further feeding my conspiracy theory that Microsoft expects Windows Phone to fail.

Of course, this is all a rumour at this stage, but we should learn more on March 1st at Samsung’s next “Unpacked” event.

  • The price for 1TopSpy is relatively cheap compared to some other similar applications, but it does not cover all the functions you can use, it is limited to the most basic one and does not give a full option package of mobile phone tracking. If you are interested in really stealth software, that will record phone activities, logs, GPS location, spy on SMS and browser history, photo and video captured, you should look for mobile spy software with more features. If you need to spy on a cell phone for a short period of time 1TopSpy has a three month contract for around $44 – by far the best value out there.
