Is Sony planning two different versions of the Xperia Z4?
According to GSM Arena, is that the company is planning to make two different devices with two different screens. One will have a “QuadHD” display running at 2560×1440 – four times 720p, in other words – and will be launched in American markets. The other will have a regular HD display – running at 1080p – and will be presumably aimed at everywhere else.
The spec of the phone is expected to remain consistent around the world, with a Snapdragon 810 processor powering it, 4GB of RAM and a 5.2″ screen.
Such a move might make sense – QuadHD is new and expensive, so using cheaper components in less rich parts of the world means that Sony can cut the price and still get to use the prestigious “Xperia Z4” brand name.
We’ll keep you posted.
