The company unveiled three new superzoom PowerShots, plus the PowerShot N2, along with three new compact IXUS cameras.

The new superzoom PowerShot SX530 HS features 50x optical zoom and 100x ZoomPlus, while the pocket-sized PowerShot SX710 HS has 30x optical zoom and the PowerShot SX610 HS has 18x optical zoom.

Can says that the Auto Zoom function on all three models helps you keep your subject in the frame by automatically detecting the number of people and adjusting the zoom level to determine the optimal size.

“Meanwhile, Intelligent IS ensures each shot is crisp and clear,” the company says. “Once captured, you can start sharing your images and Full HD Movies to your smartphone and tablet with a single touch, using integrated Wi-Fi and Dynamic NFC.”

The PowerShot N2 features a new touchscreen that tilts up 180 degrees, which Canon says activates a dedicated “selfie mode”.

Meanwhile, the IXUS 160, IXUS 165 and IXUS 170 are Canon’s smallest cameras to date, the company says.

“With the IXUS 170 boasting a 12x optical zoom, and the IXUS 160 and IXUS 165 featuring 8x optical zooms, you can focus in on the action,” it says.

“All three cameras feature a 20MP sensor for detailed stills, while Smart Auto lets you take it easy as you shoot, controlling camera settings for you, and the fun Creative Filters provide instant creative results.”

The PowerShot SX530 HS has an RSP of £329.99, as does the SX710 HS, while PowerShot SX610 HS is priced at £229.99. The PowerShot N2 is £289.99.

The IXUS 170 has an RSP of £149.99, the 165 is £129.99and the 160 is £99.99.

Canon also unveiled three new camcorders in the LEGRIA HF R Series – the LEGRIA HF R68, LEGRIA HF R66 and LEGRIA HF R606.

Canon says the new camcorders combine its Full HD video system with a high-quality DIGIC DV4 processor, and feature a 32x optical zoom lens with a 57x advanced zoom.

“The LEGRIA HF R68 includes a new Wide Attachment lens which can be quickly mounted on the camera to shorten the focal length to 26.9mm, widening the camcorder’s overall view,” Canon says.

“With slow-motion recording, you can cut speeds by 1/2x – ideal for capturing and reliving every detail of a child’s first goal – or speed up events by up to 1200x, great for a quick recap of holiday sunsets, or adventurous drives.

“Once you’ve captured all the day’s events they can easily be shared to other devices via NFC compatibility, including smartphones, tablets and Canon’s new Connect Station CS100. It’s also easy to upload content to social sites and cloud services, for instant sharing with people around the world.

“Additionally, the LEGRIA HF R606 is compatible with FlashAir SD cards – allowing you to share, store and play your footage on your smartphone or tablet, without a dedicated internet connection.”

The LEGRIA HF R68 has an RSP of £349.99, the HF R66 is £329.99and the HF R606 is priced at £249.99.
