All of the attention might be on the Xbox One and PS4, but that doesn’t mean that the venerable old Xbox 360 is dead yet. This Christmas sees a host of new releases – so here’s our pick of the top 10 Xbox 360 games this Christmas.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare

Let’s start with arguably this year’s biggest release: Advanced Warfare. A fresh spin on the war game’s format, this episode is set in the future and features Kevin Spacey playing the role of the villain. You can read our full review here.

Assassin’s Creed: Rogue

Whilst the older consoles don’t get the full Unity treatment, they do get their own title: Assassin’s Creed Rogue, which takes the popular naval mechanics of AC4 and packages them up into a new story in which, in a reversal of previous games you play the role of a Templar, hunting Assassins.

Destiny

One of the biggest games of the year is massively-multiplayer online shooter Destiny from Halo developer Bugie. Thematically not a million miles way from what Bungie is used to, the game mashes up elements from shooters and RPGs to create a unique experience – and its available on Xbox 360 too.

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel

It’s not a sequel, it isn’t a prequel, but is set between the first two Borderlands games and sees the player take control of the baddie in the second game. If you like the series, you’ll like this – though if you hated the earlier games, you’ll probably hate this too as there’s not much new, mechanics wise.

Titanfall

Okay, so it has been out for a while but Titanfall is still one of the biggest games of the year, if you haven’t played it yet. An entirely online multiplayer shooter, it mixes up the likes of Call of Duty with MASSIVE ROBOTS… and who doesn’t like that?

Pro-Evolution Soccer 2015

One for football fans – this year’s instalment of PES looks set to be the most advanced yet.

Lego Batman 3

That’s right, they’ve made another Lego game. If you’ve played one before, you’ll know the drill by now, but even if they’re not the most challenging games, they do pack the most charm. Lego Batman 3 builds on its forerunners by taking Batman out of Gotham for the first time – and perhaps most excitingly, introducing a new character: Adam West’s Batman from the 1960s TV series. Pow!

Far Cry 4

Far Cry 3 was a surprise hit for Ubisoft – elevating the previously mid-level franchise to a megafranchise, and the fourth game in the series looks set to build on previous success. Bright landscapes, first person combat and a plot that doesn’t take itself as seriously as Call of Duty look set to make for one hell of a game.

Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor

Ever wondered what happened between the events of The Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings? That’s what Shadow of Mordor attempts to answer, in the form of basically a tonne of dramatic violence. The game is an open world, and the developers are very proud of the “nemesis” system, in which characters will remember how you treated them earlier in the game – and react accordingly. So kill too many Orcs, and they’ll be really hostile.

Dragon Age: Inquisition

Demons plague the world and terrorize the people of Thedas. The faithful cling to their belief in the Inquisitor, who must lead a team of legendary warriors into battle and bring the conflict to an end before it’s too late. Every war has its heroes. What kind of leader will you be?
