MPs say they need ‘serious discussion’ with social networks over users’ data  | The Guardian

“Social networks should simplify their terms and conditions, to ensure that their users fully understand how their personal data will be collected and used, MPs have concluded. A report by the Commons science and technology committee calls for the British government to work with the Information Commissioner’s Office on new guidelines for how social media companies should explain their data collection policies to uses.”

UK ISPs are now blocking 93 piracy websites | Wired

“UK internet providers have been forced to block a further 53 websites, bringing the total number of sites blocked by court orders to 93. The ruling at the High Court is the latest in a series of blocks against torrent websites that link to pirated content. Sites included in the latest round of blocking include IP Torrents, Isohunt, Sumotorrent, Stream TV, Warez BB and Rapid Moviez. ISPs have been ordered to block piracy websites since 2012 when the High Court ruled that The Pirate Bay be blocked. Since then 92 more websites have been added to the list of copyright infringers.”

European parliament votes to break up Google | ITProPortal

“The European parliament has voted in favour of Google being broken up, in what is a major decision (to say the least) from the EU. The vote was a very clear majority too, with Mashable noting that there were 384 votes in favour compared to 174 against (and 56 abstained).”

“Analysts have has their say over BT’s forthcoming acquisition of  a major mobile network, and the verdict is that O2 would be the best match. Earlier this week it emerged that first O2 and then EE were in preliminary talks with BT over an acquisition by the UK telecoms giant. The Wall Street Journal has been polling industry analysts on which company would make the better match for BT, and the verdict seems to be in O2’s favour.”
