Good news if you want to catch up on that show you missed: The BBC has announced that iPlayer users will now get 30 days after a programme is broadcast to catch up, up from just a week before.

In a post on the BBC Internet Blog, the Beeb’s Dan Taylor-Watt explained how the extension is a result of both technical changes and a “ground breaking” agreement with suppliers.

The extra catch-up time will apply across all connected devices that can run iPlayer – though some Smart TVs and the like may need to run a software update. Apparently some shows will have even longer catch-up windows, with current affairs content like Panorama and Question Time having a full year. Some shows, for legal reasons (like Match of the Day) will be stuck on a week.
