Microsoft get around Destiny advertising ban

Microsoft has created an advert for its new perfume, known as “Destiny”. Hang on… doesn’t that sound familiar?

If you head over to the Destiny Fragrance website, you’ll discover that it is in fact all a ruse and the company is actually pushing Destiny the game – which it technically isn’t allowed to advertise.

The reason for this is that developers Bungie (of Halo fame) has signed a deal with Sony that gives the PS4 the exclusive advertising rights – so all of the Destiny adverts will say “Buy it now for PS4” or whatever. This follows a PS4 timed-exclusive on the DLC too.

So this is some pretty clever hijack marketing on Microsoft’s part, to remind players they can also play on the Xbox One.

Destiny is due for release on 9th September (that’s this coming Tuesday!).
