Bad news for any PlayStation oweners who were looking forward to playing Rise of the Tomb Raider: Microsoft has announced that the game will be exclusive to Xbox.

Whilst it isn’t yet clear if this means Xbox One only or Xbox 360 one thing is for sure: Sony’s console won’t be getting the game, according to MCV.

Darrell Gallagher, who is head of developers Crystal Dynamics, apparently explained the decision by using a whole paragraph of words to say absolutely nothing meaningful:

“Our friends at Microsoft have always seen huge potential in Tomb Raider and have believed in our vision since our first unveil with them on their stage at E3 2011. We know they will get behind this game more than any support we have had from them in the past – we believe this will be a step to really forging the Tomb Raider brand as one of the biggest in gaming, with the help, belief and backing of a major partner like Microsoft.”

The 2013 Tomb Raider reboot, which was written by Rhianna Pratchett, was widely praised as not only being a great game, but for being a more mature take on an iconic character. It sold better than expected too, so it is a savvy move on Microsoft’s part to sign up the game as an exclusive.
