HTC unveils new Desire 510 with 4G LTE
HTC has launched what it says is its most affordable smartphone in the Desire lineup to support 4G LTE.
The Desire 510, the successor to the budget Desire 500 launched last year, features a 4.7-inch screen with a resolution of 480×854 pixels, is powered by a Qualcomm quad-core 1.2GHz Snapdragon 410 processor, has 8GB of on-board memory and an expandable microSD card slot and runs Android 4.4 KitKat with the HTC Sense UI.
Apart from 4G LTE support, the Desire 510 includes 3G, wifi 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity.
Announcing the new device, HTC chief executive Peter Chou said: “The industry has been talking about the 4G effect for so long now that it’s easy to forget that only a small selection of top-end devices are taking advantage of the technology.
“Owning the latest and greatest technology shouldn’t be reserved for those with the highest budgets. People today should expect their smartphones to double as mobile entertainment hubs.
“This means ensuring that they’re fully loaded with the latest movies, TV shows and albums, by taking advantage of the super-fast network speeds available. The HTC Desire 510 does this and more, making it the perfect mobile media device.”
HTC said the Desire 510 would be available in the UK from September for around £149. Mobile operator O2 said that the Desire 510 would be offered on its Refresh tariff.
