We often see companies fight over the exclusive rights to big name properties. But instead of the story today being about Microsoft and Sony fighting over Destiny, or whether Xbox or Playstation will get the next Grand Theft Auto first… it is instead all about Flappy Bird.

flappy

Yep – according to GamesIndustry.biz, the game that took the world by storm earlier this year before being pulled from the app stores by its creator after just days has been exclusively signed by Amazon, for its Fire TV box.

We’d previously known that Flappy Bird was due to return with enhanced game modes, including multiplayer – but we didn’t expect to have to buy Amazon’s new device in order to play it.

At the moment there’s no indication of how long Amazon have wrapped up the exclusive rights for, but if you’re dying to play the game and not shell out for a Fire TV, then there’s always (approximately) 20 billion clones you can play instead.
