Not all of its customers might agree, but Virgin Media has been rated the UK’s best ISP by streaming service Netflix.
Virgin Media tops the current list on the official Netflix blog with an average speed of 3.30Mbps, with BT in second place at 2.96Mbps.
Sky is in third on 2.74Mbps, then EE on 2.62Mbps and finally TalkTalk on 2.59Mbps.
“While there was no significant change at the top of the rankings, Virgin Media in the UK did expand its lead over BT as the [number one] ranked provider,” Netflix said in a blogpost.
In the US, the fastest option is Cablevision, which provides 3.10Mbps. The slowest available option comes courtesy of Verizon and its DSL service – a meagre 0.91Mbps.
Netflix says its ISP Speed Index is based on data from more than 48 million members worldwide who view more than 1 billion hours of TV shows and movies on the service each month.
