Samsung have this afternoon announced a new point & shoot camera where you can wink to take a selfie. Seriously.

The NX3000 is a 20.3 megapixel beast – with an APS-C CMOS sensor, 1/4000 shutter speed and 5fps continuous shooting. There’s a 3″ screen on the back for a view finder – and crucially it can flip up so you can see it whilst taking selfies.

Oh yeah, and you can wink at it.

Samsung are calling the technology “Wink Shot”, so as soon as you have your fedora perfectly aligned, all you have to do to take a photo is wink at the camera. Hopefully you won’t come across like this:

Lens-wise there’s a 16-50mm F3.5-5.6 Power Zoom ED OIS Lens, and perhaps most interestingly the camera links up with Samsung’s various “Tag&Go” technologies, that use wifi and/or NFC to transfer photos straight to your phone – which you can also use for Remote Viewfinder or to automatically send your photos to Dropbox.

You can see a demo of this tech in this annoyingly twee advert (the camera featured isn’t the new one):

The NX3000 will be available from mid-June, with the price to be announced.
