With only days to go until the PS4 lands in the UK, Sony have finally revealed what apps and services will be available on the new console from the launch window.

There’s not too many surprises – the list is as follows: BBC iPlayer, BBC Sport, BBC News, Demand 5, IGN, Netflix, LoveFilm, Music Unlimited, Video Unlimited and Vidzone.

Sony also say that other apps from the PS3 will be migrating over “soon” – here’s hoping that includes YouTube.

What’s perhaps most interesting is that the PS4 will have the iPlayer from day one – whereas the Xbox One will have to do without for the time being.

Music and Video Unlimited are the names Sony have given to their in-house music and video stores (music looks set to be a Spotify-style subscription services, with video more like a normal store). Vidzone – the other one that may be unfamiliar, is apparently a music video streaming service, with built in social media functionality.

Sony are also trumpeting the fact that they’ll have the IGN channel before anyone else does. Also interestingly apparently radio streaming service TuneIn will be joining the PS4 line-up at some point in 2014. One of the services listed for Spain includes Wuaki, which just launched over here – so expect to see that turning up on the PS4 sooner rather than later too.

So there we have it – a more complete picture of what you could do when you boot up on Friday… but we all know you’re going to be playing games, right?
