Honami-542x500.pngSony’s Xperia i1 “Honami”, thought to be the company’s successor to the impressive Xperia Z handset, has had its purported specifications leaked online by Chinese website ePrice.

According to the report, the Honami will feature a 1/2.3-inch 20-megapixel Exmor RS sensor – a slight change from previous rumours that suggested a 1/1.5 to 1/1.6-inch sensor would feature. The sensor will be backed up by a G lens, with Sony’s Bionz image processor (usually the reserve of the company’s digital cameras) also set for inclusion.

Measuring 5-inches with a full HD display, the handset is also said to be sporting a 2.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor, backed by 2GB of RAM, and 16GB of internal storage that can be boosted by a microSD card.

Following in the Xperia Z’s ruggedised footsteps, the Xperia i1 will also be water and dustproof, meeting IP55/IP57 international standards. A non-removable battery, with a capacity of 3,000mAh, provides the juice. Design wise, the phone looks like a subtle evolution on the slim and slick Xperia Z handset, with the images suggesting both black and white versions will be available.

Expected to be revealed at the start of September at the IFA tech conference in Berlin, we’ll have all the official news on the handset once it has been revealed.
