LoveFilm have updated their PlayStation 3 LoveFilm Instant app, adding new features to the Sony console’s version of the streaming service.
Headlining new features include a much-needed new user interface, allowing for easier navigation and improved search and recommendation systems. The app now also has a Watchlist feature that allows users to create playlists of shows and films on LoveFilm, letting you kick back in front of the gogglebox for hours without having to lift a finger.
Perhaps the most important new feature is HD streaming of shows and movies. Though it’s only in 720p and not the full HD definition of Blu-ray discs (or the 1080p streams offered by rival Netflix) its still a fair sight prettier than the standard definition content that was previously all that was offered by the app.
“With the new and improved LOVEFiLM Instant app launching on PS3 we continue to offer our members a market-leading viewing experience,” said Simon Morris, Chief Marketing Officer at LoveFilm.
“The improved search engine, user interface and other improvements make discovering new content easier than ever before, whilst the addition of popular features such as the Watchlist allow members to plan their viewing around their busy schedules.”
Though hitting the PS3 first, LoveFilm promise that all the features listed in the current update will be rolling out to all other devices with the LoveFilm Instant app “in the future”.
