Xbox-720-top-banner.pngCould the Xbox 720 be launching at E3 2012? An online countdown calendar, posted by Microsoft’s Major Nelson a full six months ahead of the event, seems to suggest so!

The Xbox Live ambassador posted the calendar highlighting E3 2013’s June 11 opening with the words “And it’s on…”

Though E3 could see Microsoft launch almost anything gaming related, setting the hype machine in motion a whole 158 days ahead of the event is an unprecedented move by Microsoft, and one fitting a launch as sure to be gigantic as the Xbox 720.

Many had expected the Xbox 720 to be revealed at E3 2012, given that it is now well over seven years since we first set eyes on the Xbox 360. However, that launch come courtesy of an MTV reveal, and many have suggested that Microsoft will be looking to launch the console at their own glitzy event away from the bustle of E3.

A June launch for the console would put it on track for a Christmas 2013 release. Time to start saving the pennies.
