alcatel-ultra-idol.jpgAlcatel have revealed their mobile hand at CES 2013, with the Alcatel Idol Ultra grabbing the most headlines so far by being the latest smartphone to claim the “world’s thinnest” title.

Just 6.45mm thick, it’s certainly a svelte device, but Alcatel seem not to have taken the camera unit on the rear into account, which protrudes quite a bit. It’s really “the world’s thinnest phone at its thinnest point”, if the company are to be wholly honest.

Still, with Alcatel known for their budget friendly devices, it’s looking a nifty handset at what’s expected to be a cut rate price. Running Android Jelly Bean, the Idol Ultra is powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor, with a good-looking 4.7-inch HD OLED screen round the front.

No concrete pricing or release date information available yet beyond a vague “2013” global release, but we’ll keep you posted with more details as we get them.
