mo-farrah-virgin.jpgThey promised to do so, and they’ve delivered; Virgin Media have given a speed boost to their broadband customers on 100MB connections, upping their speeds to 120MB, free of charge.

It’s part of Virgin Media’s “Double Your Speeds” programme, which aims to double the broadband speeds of four million customers by the middle of 2013. 40% of the network already benefits from the speed boost.

While broadband boosts are dependent on the area you live in, Virgin have already rolled out significant upgrades to customers on their 10MB and 30MB plans, pushing their speeds to 20MB and 60MB respectively.

“Virgin Media has led the greatest developments in broadband in the UK over the last decade and our 120Mb service continues to ensure that our consumers across the country get the very best that today’s technology offers,” said Jon James, executive director of broadband at Virgin Media.

Oh, and that picture of double Olympic gold medallist Mo Farah? It’s not just there because we love him; he’s the super-speedy new face of Virgin Media’s broadband campaign. It was either him, or a picture of an Ethernet cable…

  • Only about 5-6% of people can get 3meg broadband, how about they bother expanding coverage instead of just covering a few cities here and there?

    • Expansion nearly destroyed the UK cable network.

Also why should they go into economically unviable areas just to suite you?
